Staying Cool in Anaheim, Part 1

19 Jul

I have been trying to keep cool in Anaheim … while dyeing wool, which is not a very easy thing to do!  Although I make the most of early morning and evening dye sessions, I sometimes just have to dye when I have the time to do it, even if it means doing so in the heat of the day.

Fortunately, I did come up with some cool colors that helped make one of my hot sessions particularly worthwhile.  There are 9 different pieces of marbleized wool in this stack, folded so you see both the front and the back of each piece.   Even though I did have to fire up my stove top to do this wool, several colors came out of each pot, speeding up the process by increasing my output.  It also lowered the amount of stove time needed.

As I have posted about the marbleizing process before (see categories section) I will not go into detail today.  This process is a great way of getting a lot of related variety out of one pot of wool.

Of course, I was going for volume.  If firing up the stove for a small pan any way, one might as well fire it up for large ones!

The colorful variety of wool pieces from this session not only made me happy, it grabbed a lot of attention in the immediate nehborhood.

Lots of eyes were watching me hang out that wool.  Not only did they seem a bit jealous of all the wonderful colors, I could tell they were also marveling at how cool I looked on such a hot summer’s day.

If you would like to see a video on how to do this process, it is available 24/7,  to subscribers on the Internet Rug Camp.  www.geneshepherd.com

Great photo of the parakeets. The young ones look all grown up. I enjoy looking at the marbleized wool too of course. JB
