Up And Running

13 Jan

The cameras are rolling …

The Internet Rug Camp is up and running as of early this morning.  If you are interested in being a subscriber, all you need to do is go to my home page at www.geneshepherd.com and click on the Internet Rug Camp button.  That will take you to a registration area where you can pay using Pay Pal.  Once that step is completed, you will be emailed a password that will allow you to enter the site.  (If you do not want to use Pay Pal, you can send me a check and we will manually enroll you.)  The price for a 12 month subscription is $36, although January subscribers will get a discounted rate of $33.  Here is what you will get during the next 12 months:

Expanded blog coverage – While I will continue the free blog on this site, the IRgC will have more photos and additional information.

An Instructional Video Library – ready when you are!

The initial January launch has Drawing the Double Cross Pattern, Transitional Dyeing, Persian, Part 1: Picking Your Colors and Alternate Loop/Bead Stitch. All told, I expect to offer a minimum of 30 instructional videos during the course of the next 12 months.

Other Videos I have already filmed to be released, 2 or 3 each month.

Persian, Part 2:  Correcting a Pattern (Ever get a pattern that slipped while being drawn?)

Persian, Part 3: Hooking the Corrections (Some suggestions on ways to simply this process.)

Corners and Colors: Double Cross Rug  (We’ll spend time concentrating on how to hook corners and how I picked my colors.)

Whipping the Edge of a Rectangle Rug (One of my most frequent requests.)

Finishing the Edge of a Round Rug  (Getting the bulk out of a round finished edge.)

Marbleized Wool (Dyeing without dye!)

Traditional Six Value Swatch (A simple approach to this traditional staple.)

Zipper Ditch for Very Wide Cuts (Letting wide cuts work for you.)

Transferring a Floral Design (Using a light box to speed up this process.)

… and a couple of other things

Free Patterns:  The IRgC will also have free pattern downloads every few months – 5 are scheduled for this year, the first one being Double Cross.  Not only will I cover how to transfer each pattern, but give hooking and dyeing techniques that I use to make them.

While it has been a lot of work to get this up and running, I am really happy with the way it looks and appreciative of  the work that Buddy (my web master) and Steve (my camera man) have put into the effort.  I hope you enjoy it.

Jane – I am just up, so need time to clear my mind – I think you need to click on the button and then give it some time to load. The note says: Large video files … take time to load. Watch the bar across the bottom and let it do its thing before watching. GRS

    Hi Gene,
How do I get to the paypal page and do I already have to have a paypal account somewhere or can I join paypal there? If I can’t join it there, where do I send the check for IRC??

Small matter but when you have time – I can’t seem to post my comments on the Internet Camp version of the blog. A few others have figured it out but I don’t know what I’m doing wrong.

What I said there: Thank you so much for this inspiring service of love!

Lynda, Go to geneshepherd.com and click on the button. As you are registering, if you don’t have Pay Pal, there is a button to click on to sign you up there as well, all in one process. Gene

Hi Gene…I tried to join the internet rug camp using paypal…I think I think I made an error, but now it says access denied..incorrect password. When I try to redo it, it says my name and password are already in use. I received an email which said “send msg” ( so I replied with a message) I’m not sure what I should do now…if anything.

    Well Gene,
Looks like you may have to ride a few hiccups to get this thing going. I know it’s going to be very popular. My problem is I don’t even have the button to enter the IRgC on your website when I navigate there using your link above (or google). I am in the same time zone as you up here in Olympic City.
Does the camp not extend to Canada? That wouldn’t make sense.
I will wait a couple hours and try again.
Again, thanks for doing this for everyone, it’s alot of work but it’s great to have video instruction when you can’t get to a real camp.
    Thanks,
    Gina.

General Information – We are at work on our hiccups today. If you can’t find the IRgC button, it may be that you need to refresh your screen – hit that little circle button with an arrow – that should allow the new home page to refresh. I will keep you posted. Gene

I can’t get into your internet camp. There is no button to click onto and I’ve tried everything on your website. Not sure what to do now. Waiting for the next instructions.

Hi Gene, I can’t get any of the videos on the rug camp either. Even after waiting a half hour (with high speed internet) it still says “4 items remaining” on the progress bar. Also, when I tried to post a comment there it kept saying “Captcha code incorrect.”

Hi Gene, I am so looking forward to the IRC but, having checked back several timed throught the day and refreshing everytime, I still have no button to click. Have searched everywhere and tried everything I could think of. Is there a way you could put a clickable link on here to get there directly for those of us who seem to be missing it? Thanks ~ Deb
