My New Year is starting at the frame, working on this Persian, while I watch the Rose Parade and take a little break here and there to eat and spend time with my family. However, that does not mean I can’t multi-task and think, while I hook and look, about the hooking things I am aticipating in 2010.
January 11 – The Internet Rug Camp goes on line.
While I will be telling you more about the particulars next week, it appears that all things are go for my new subscription site, the Internet Rug Camp, to go live on Monday, January 11. The first set of videos (I’ll post a total of 30 in 2010) are shot and ready, the first free pattern (I’ll post a total of 5 in 2010) is ready and a few other things to be available on the site are also in the hands of the web master. Think of it as an expanded blog, with a library of instructional videos and free pattern downloads.
April 11-23 – Australia – Part of yesterday was spent emailing back and forth with Miriam Miller, my host at Narrawilly Farm, outside of Milton, South Australia. While there I will be conducting 5 workshops, as well as spending a day at a rug show/gathering. This is a particularly exciting time for Australian rug hookers as they formally begin preparations for the next TIGHR Convention in 2012. I can hardly wait to get on the plane!
June 6 – 11, Cambria Pines Rug Camp – What can I say? It’s the highlight of my rug hooking year. There are still a few spots available if you would like to attend.
August 9-14 – Sauder Village Rug Retreat and Show – Sauder Village is one of the great rug hooking gatherings in the US. This year, I will be doing a week long class, plus a Wednesday night Proddy workshop and an all day Dyeing workshop. Although I am pretty sure that all my classes are full, there may be spots available in other places … and there is always a waiting list! Additionally, the Sauder Rug Show, in its own right, is well worth the trip with or without any special classes.
Fall Workshop – Although the final date has not been set, I will be doing just one extra workshop this year, for the North County Wool Gathers, Fallbrook, CA.
These special events are in addition to my regular, First Saturday in Anaheim, Hook-Ins, which are open to the public. Of course, I will be reporting from all of them so that you can have a ringside seat.
Best Wishes to you for a wonderful New Year!

Gene, I LOVE the colors in this Persian. They just make my heart sing. Gorgeous. I’m in the process of moving (hopefully Jan. 16th and have to get my computer all hooked up to a totally different company.) I will be missing your blog for a bit. I will join your IRC as soon as I get hooked up at the new address. Jan in MN

Gene,
With my birthday in two weeks, having a special rate for those of us born in January is a wonderful gift. For those keeping track, I share mine with the late Elvis Presley who was 14 when I was born.
Thanks,
trisha

I am looking forward to your Internet Rug Camp because I know you have a lot more to teach your hooking fan club. Your Persian will be fabulous. Do you ever make anything that isn’t beautiful? Make sure you take time for yourself during your busy schedule this year and enjoy your blessed life. Happy New Year from Maine (where we have a nice blizzard in progress!) Lauri
