The other day, a reader requested shots of other artist’s interpretations of Big Momma.
Remember, the original, hooked by Kate Smith, really was a big, big Momma -
Here it is on display at the 2008, Cambria Pines Rug Camp Show. I left my wife in the shot so you can get a proper perspective on the size of Kate’s original.
Susan Kievman has also finished the piece.
I have shown her rug in stages (in the category section) since Susan was in the class I taught on the rug last fall. Although she did hook the background in a solid color, rather than with the stripes used by both Kate and me, she did follow the directional grid pattern of the design. While it shows up more in person than in this photo, if you look closely, that directional hooking can be seen and it adds to the over-all impact of the rug. As with everything she hooks, Susan did a great job with this rug.
(Sorry to be so brief today, but I am under the weather.)

I hope you feel better soon……I was just thinking of Big Momma and wondering if the greens in the background were as is…….I really think I like the plain background……..Thanks V. Sharmay
