Friday is, usually, my day off. Normally, I dye a bunch of wool or transfer several patterns on Friday. However, yesterday, I spent most of the day sitting in my chair hooking. Since that project must remain secret for a while longer, I can’t even show you what I was working on. However, I do have a shot of some wool I dyed the other day and it’s just too pretty to not show.
The shot shows a batch of transitional wool (like what I used for Fowl Mood) that was dyed in one batch – everything came out of the same pot. It is appropriate to show it today as I am taking it, and a lot of other wool, to the First Saturday in Anaheim monthly hook-in. Once there various pieces will make their way to new homes. Like a large group of people at a family reunion, I’ll probably never be able to get all these wool strips together again. So, it seems appropriate to memorialize them with a group shot.

Hi Gene,
Thank you for your website. It’s very informative. I’m interested in learning how to do the beading stitch. A hooker recently used in a priject featured in a Rug Hooking publication and when I asked her how it was done she told me she learned it from your website. I’ve been unable to locate the instructions. Please help! Thank you, MicheleS

Jo – Lunch was served by Subway – which is right next door. I always have a tuna salad on jalapeno/cheese bread, with cucumbers, tomatoes, banana peppers and raw spinach. Of course, I get the combo so I can also have Cheetos. GRS

MicheleS – It’s in the categories section to the right of the screen listed under “Alternate/Bead.” Many people refer to type of hooking as “bead” stitch. I prefer to call it alternate loop. FYI – I am getting ready to shoot a new bunch of DVD’s and this process will be one of the things that will be demonstrated. GRS

I am totally amazed each day by all that you accomplish in a day…..We don’t hear of your church work much but in the hooking alone you do wonders…..Don’t get the flu or anything as we are all so dependent on our daily blog from you……..V. Sharmay

V. I got my flu shot the other day, so hope to avoid that. Yes, I spend most of my time doing church work – hooking is my “outside” interest. GRS
